No Family Law Measures Pass Missouri Legislature

attorney jonathan marks county council case

The Missouri General Assembly ended its regular session this past Friday. During the session, legislators introduced 16 different family law related bills, and none of them made their way to the governor for signature.

We previously discussed two prominent bills. The first, having to do with making equal physical custody a rebuttable presumption, passed the House of Representative and was reported out of Senate committee as Do Pass. However, it did not make it to the floor vote before the session ended. The second bill, seeking to introduce significant changes to the discretion of judges with regard to maintenance, made it out of the House committee with a Do Pass recommendation but never received a floor vote in the House before the end of the session.

We would anticipate that both bills will be reintroduced in the next legislative session.

We will continue to keep you up to date on the latest family law related legislation in Missouri.
