The ending of a marriage is almost always a difficult experience. Divorce can cause stress, heartache and tears. It can also provide plenty of material for funny stories and jokes, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

The newspaper recently reviewed a performance by comedian Kevin Hart, who spent his recent show at the Concert Club at Scottrade Center talking almost exclusively about his divorce, his ex-wife and their misadventures together in their marriage gone wrong.

The comedian told the crowd he’s “happily divorced,” now able to feed pigeons and walk through the park in peace. The newspaper review described Hart’s hilarious recounting of a tale in which he tried to convince his wife that he’d been feeding the birds in a park, not having a fling with another woman. Apparently to no avail.

Hart admitted to cheating and lying in his marriage, but did his best to make the audience laugh at his poor behavior.

“A routine about the night his mate spied on him by hiding in his car trunk was a scream,” the newspaper review stated. “He opened the trunk, they saw each other, and she jumped out of the trunk like jack in the box and ran. She beat him home, then denied she was ever there.”

While his humor might or might not be to your liking, there’s little doubt that people facing divorce often feel as if they have little to laugh about. The future can look pretty grim. But the reality is that people do get through the divorce, they do get back to enjoying their lives and they can often look back and laugh.
