Former football star Deion Sanders’ bitter divorce from estranged wife Pilar Sanders took another bad turn earlier this week. The pro football Hall of Fame member posted online a photo of himself and his two young sons filing out a police report against the boys’ mother.
Sanders posted the photo on Twitter, along with a pair of messages, including one applauding the social network: “filling out police reports now! Thank God for this platform to issue the Truth.” Sanders played two sports professionally — football and baseball — appearing many times in front of St. Louis crowds.
Sanders said his wife, accompanied by another woman, assaulted him in his home, while he was in his bedroom. He claims his two sons witnessed the attack. His wife was later arrested for misdemeanor family violence.
The couple married in 1999.
Sanders is remembered as a star cornerback and kick returner for the Dallas Cowboys and Atlanta Falcons and a less successful, nine-year major league baseball career with the Cincinnati Reds, Atlanta Braves and New York Yankees. He’s the only pro athlete to ever play in both the Super Bowl and World Series.
The speedy football player also occasionally lined up on offense as a wide receiver.
After his retirement from playing, he turned to sports broadcasting. The player formerly known as Neon Deion and Prime Time currently working for the NFL Network as an analyst.
He also starred with his wife and their four sons in a reality TV show, “Deion and Pilar: Prime Time Love.”
Last month, Pilar Sanders filed a $200 million defamation lawsuit against her husband.
